A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING MR. JAMES RASBERRY FOR BEING NAMED THE 1998 BUILDER MEMBER OF THE YEAR.

WHEREAS, Mr. James Rasberry, a native of Kosciusko, was named the 1998 Builder Member of the Year during ceremonies sponsored by the Home Builders Association of Mississippi, a 3,400-member statewide trade association which serves as the voice of the Mississippi housing industry; and

WHEREAS, in addition to being named the Builder of the Year, Mr. Rasberry also was presented an award for recruiting the most members on National Membership Day; and

WHEREAS, The Builder Member Award is presented to the builder member who best demonstrates a commitment to his local, state and national builder associations for 1998, as well as for his civic involvement; and

WHEREAS, as a builder, Mr. Rasberry has been involved in new home construction, rural housing development, subdivision development, commercial renovation, residential remodeling and new commercial construction; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Rasberry is actively involved in many professional organizations, including the Mid-Mississippi Home Builders Association, where he chairs the Build PAC Committee and the Government Affairs Committee and previously served as secretary and treasurer; and

WHEREAS, on the state level, Mr. Rasberry serves as a state director and chairman of the Long-Range Planning Committee, serves on the Build PAC Board of Trustees and is a dollar-day participant to the National Association of Home Builders; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Rasberry's industry and community accomplishments include membership on the Mississippi Economic Council, the Mississippi Team Penning Association, Attala County Business and Education Council, the Kosciusko Licensing Board, the State Board of Contractors and the Attala County Industry Development Corporation, where he is a board member and vice-chairman; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Rasberry will also be inducted into the Mississippi Housing Hall of Fame for his lifelong commitment to the building industry; and

WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Mississippi finds it most appropriate to pay special tribute to an outstanding businessman such as Mr. James Rasberry for his many years of service to the building industry on local, state and national levels:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mr. James Rasberry for being named the 1998 Builder Member of the Year and extend our heartiest wishes for success in all his future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. James Rasberry and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
